Netflix unveils 5 new animated movies to be released in 2024

Movies

At a long-awaited press event on Monday, Netflix unveiled the five different films that are presently in production at the studio as part of its future feature-length animation slate for 2024.

It is obvious that the corporation still wants to compete head-to-head with Disney, Universal, and the other major companies in the animation industry, despite the ups and downs of the streaming business model.

Here is what Netflix’s original animated films will consist of including In Your Dreams to the Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks movie.

1. THELMA THE UNICORN

Thelma is a modest pony who aspires to be a glitzy music sensation. Thelma becomes a unicorn in an unexpected turn of fate that is pink and glitter-filled, catapulting her to sudden fame across the globe. However, this newfound prominence has a price. Thelma the Unicorn, from directors Lynn Wang (Unikitty!) and Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), is a heartwarming, eccentric, and entertaining ride.

2. IN YOUR DREAMS

A flawless family? Getting along siblings? In your dreams, for sure. The Sandman, who will grant them their greatest wish—saving their parents’ marriage—will be found by Stevie and her brother Elliot in this comedy-adventure, which centers on them. Due to their complete differences, the kids make an odd team to explore the craziness of their own mind. They learn from their experiences that they can overcome anything as long as they have each other, even their scariest nightmares.

3. ULTRAMAN

Based on the well-known Japanese character, the Netflix original series Ultraman follows baseball player Ken Sato as he returns to his native Japan to assume the role of the superhero Ultraman, who defends the planet. When he is made to parent the children of his biggest enemy, he quickly discovers more than he anticipated. In order to overcome his ego and learn the true meaning of being an Ultraman, Ken must embark on a hero’s journey while juggling fatherhood, his estranged father, and the unrelenting Kaiju Defense Force.

4. THAT CHRISTMAS

Simon Otto, a renowned character animator and veteran story artist (Love, Death & Robots, the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy), makes his feature film directorial debut with Locksmith Animation’s endearing film, which is based on the popular series of children’s books by BAFTA winner and Academy Award nominee Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral; Love Actually; Yesterday). A string of interconnected stories of love and loneliness, family and friends, Santa Claus making a tremendous error, as well as a huge number of turkeys, are told after that Christmas. Producers include Adam Tandy (The Thick of It, Detectorists) and Nicole P. Hearon (Moana, Frozen).

5. SAVING BIKINI BOTTOM: THE SANDY CHEEKS MOVIE

In order to protect the town from an evil scheme, SpongeBob SquarePants and Sandy Cheeks travel to Texas when Bikini Bottom and all of its inhabitants are abruptly scooped out of the ocean.
