Glo announces Tobi Amusan as new brand ambassador

Tobi Amusan, a Commonwealth games gold winner has been named the brand ambassador for Globacom, a provider of digital telecommunications solutions.

Amusan, a native of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, was born on April 23, 1997.

At the 2022 World Athletics Championships, she won the gold medal in the 100 meter hurdles event, breaking the previous world record with a time of 12.12 seconds in the semifinal.

She is the first Nigerian to achieve this success.

Additionally, she won the gold medal in the final with a time of 12.06 seconds.

She has won the 100 meter hurdles competition twice in the African Games, taking home the African and Commonwealth titles in 2018 and 2022, respectively.

Amusan added to her record at the Zurich Diamond League competition by winning the 100-meter hurdles in 12.29 seconds.

On September 29, 2022, at a grand ceremony held at the Mike Adenuga Towers in Victoria Island, Lagos, she was unveiled as the new brand ambassador for the mobile network provider Glo.

Also present were representatives from the orthodox and new media, as well as sports enthusiasts.

In a remark given during the event, Mr. Lawrence Odediran, Regional Manager, Sales, Lagos, Globacom, stated that Amusan’s membership was intended to honor and thank her for her exceptional achievements.

The move, he added, will also promote Nigerian sports while encouraging the future generation to be fastidious in their dreams regardless of the challenges that may confront them, saying, “We, therefore, urge them not to be discouraged by present challenges, but to continue to strive to realize their dreams”.

According to him, “At Globacom, we are very proud of what Tobi Amusan has achieved in her athletics career.

She is an embodiment of the Nigerian spirit of resilience, hard work, and enterprise which enabled her to excel irrespective of the enormity of the challenges she encountered in her quest for success.

These are qualities that Globacom identifies with”.

The future belongs to those who prepare for it now, Odediran asserted, adding that “she prepared very hard in the past years and today belongs to her” and that “Tomorrow is also waiting for other committed Nigerian and African youths who begin their preparations today.”

In her appreciation speech, the new ambassador praised Globacom for granting her the opportunity to serve as an ambassador.
