Devils still keen on Osimhen

The reigning English Premier League champions Manchester United are anticipated to submit an offer during the forthcoming summer transfer window in an attempt to recruit Nigerian attacker Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils are expected to receive financial support during the summer transfer window as Sir Jim Ratcliffe is close to formally obtaining a 25% minority interest in Man United.

The Premier League approved the trade on Tuesday, and by the latest week of next week, the deal should be finalized.

Ratcliffe’s INEOS money will allay Man Utd’s worries about Financial Fair Play for the summer window, giving Erik ten Hag significant opportunity to bolster his team. Ratcliffe has already given the go-ahead for the Red Devils to pursue Michael Olise, who has a €70 million release clause.

In order to relieve some of the strain on Rasmus Hojlund—who has been playing pretty well lately—Ten Hag also wants to acquire a new center-back and an experienced striker. Osimhen is their top choice to fill that position, according to 90min.

The London-based sports portal claims that United is still in the running to recruit the 25-year-old Nigerian sniper because Ratcliffe’s financial backing together with Champions League status would give Ten Hag’s team the upper hand.

Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli in the summer, recently penning a one-year extension with a new release clause believed to be around €120m-€130m. Chelsea have long been considered the favourite among Premier League clubs to land him, but United would become a more attractive destination if they were to be playing at the highest level of European football next
season.
