The Guinness Book of World Records’ previous record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” has been surpassed by Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci.

The chef set a new Guinness World Record on Monday morning, surpassing Lata Tondon’s previous mark of 87 hours and 45 minutes.

Hilda Baci kicked off the competition on Thursday at precisely 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

As the first person ever to spend so much time cooking, Hilda continues to cook for 96 hours despite having already shattered the previous record.

Hilda has continued to receive a wave of support from government officials, celebrities, clerics, and other well-meaning Nigerians.

Earlier, Hilda had received well wishes from Chef Tondon, who had previously held the record for “longest cooking time.”
