According to the Federal Government, around $1.2 million was spent on the stranded Nigerians’ evacuation from Sudan.
The information was revealed by Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a briefing by State House correspondents at the conclusion of the Federal Executive Council, or FEC.
The minister claimed that 40 buses were used to transport roughly 2,400 students from Sudan, and that the government had provided security coverage for the eight- and eleven-hour trips from Luxol to Cairo, Egypt.
Mr. Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, also pointed out that no Nigerian lost a life in the conflict and stated that there have been no discussions regarding alternative arrangements for the evacuees to complete their education, and most of whom are students of the University of Khartoum.
