24 persons who had been abducted by bandits in Zamfara State have reportedly been released by Operation Hadarin Daji soldiers, according to the Nigerian Army.
The victims were liberated, according to the service, after soldiers engaged the robbers in a bloody gunfight on Friday.
Four robbers were reportedly killed in the gunfight, according to a statement from Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.
In a rescue operation that was carried out in the early hours of today, July 7, 2023, troops of the 223 Battalion, operating under Sector 1 of Joint Task Force, North West Operations Hadarin Daji, rescued 24 kidnap victims, including a child, following a shootout with infamous bandits at Kabugu Lamba, an abandoned village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North West Nigeria.
“The soldiers under the direction of the battalion’s commanding officer stalked and swooped on the bandits, destroying four of them in the ensuing fierce combat.
The troops have freed the victims from the kidnappers’ stronghold, including a minor, nine females, and fourteen males.
