Senegal has won its first U-17 AFCON title following a comeback victory over Morocco in the final game, which was played last night at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.

It was the first U-17 AFCON final for both countries. Throughout the game, they fought for possession with tenacity. Nevertheless, Senegal was ultimately triumphant.

Morocco took the lead in the 14th minute thanks to a goal from captain Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, and they kept it until Serigne Falou Diouf’s penalty kick in the 79th.

Seven minutes before the end of the game, Mamadou Sawane scored the game’s winning goal with a header to give the Teranga Cubs their well-earned victory.

Senegal has taken home three continental trophies in recent months. In addition to winning the U-17 AFCON title, they also won the AFCON Beach Soccer Cup and the AFCON 2021 title.
