On Sunday, Nnaemaka Nwosu allegedly set a policewoman and her two children on fire in the Nnokwa community of Anambra State’s Idemili South Local Government Area.
The suspect, who is from the Amawbia village, became homeless after her husband divorced her and was in desperate need of lodging when the policewoman offered her a room in her apartment.
According to a local source, Nwosu was living with the policewoman and her family members until an argument turned into a brawl between her and the officer.
According to the source, during the altercation, Nwosu allegedly lunged for a pestle and struck the policewoman in the head with it, causing her to fall and lose consciousness.
The culprit thereafter tied the policewoman and her children up with rope and lit them ablaze inside the room, according to the source. Along with the structure, the policewoman and her children perished in the fire.
“As she attempted to flee the area, local watchmen and some of the people were drawn to the fire and caught her (Nwosu).
The suspect then confessed to the crime and described how she committed the horrible act after initially claiming that a gas cylinder exploded while the mom and her children were boiling hot water.
When asked about the event, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police public relations officer, verified it and said the suspect had been given to the state criminal investigation department for further inquiry and possible prosecution.
He stated that the policewoman’s and her children’s bodies had been placed at the mortuary. According to preliminary findings, the policewoman hosted the suspect while she was looking for a home, Ikenga stated. The suspect struck the policewoman in the head with a pestle after the two ladies got into an argument that turned into a fight.
“She chained her up with her two kids and set them on fire while she was unconscious. The victims’ bodies have been located and placed in the mortuary.
