In the first trailer and poster for Hidden Strike, action movie and martial arts legend Jackie Chan pairs up with Fast X actor and WWE professional wrestler John Cena.
Hidden Strike, a film by XYZ Films, is quickly becoming a “must-watch” for action movie enthusiasts as the action hero team trade quips and dispatch villains in their own unique ways.
Plot
Here is the plot of Hidden Strike even if the mere thought of Jackie Chan and John Cena working together to administer justice, avoid explosions, crack jokes, and generally having an action-packed time is probably more than enough to convince you of its advantages.
Chan and Cena play two former special forces troops who have to lead a group of people through Baghdad’s “Highway of Death” to the safety of the Green Zone in Hidden Strike.
Cast
Scott Waugh, well known for Need for Speed, is directing Hidden Strike from a screenplay by Arash Amel of A Private War and Rise fame. Scott Waugh will next head the action ensemble The Expendables 4.
In addition to John Cena (F9: The Fast Saga, The Suicide Squad) and Jackie Chan (Rush Hour, Police Story), Hidden Strike will also include Pilou Asbaek (Samaritan, Game of Thrones), Amadeus Serafini (Scream: The TV Series, Summer Days, Summer Nights), Zhenwei Wang (The Karate Kid), Minghao Hou (When We Were Young), and others.
Hidden Strike: Journey to Screens
The Jackie Chan and John Cena collaboration film has had a rocky road to the big screen, with previous titles including Snafu, Project X, Project X-Traction, and finally Hidden Strike.
Before Cena’s profile as a movie celebrity started to rise as a result of appearances in films like the DC film The Suicide Squad, the Transformers prequel Bumblebee, and the ninth Fast and Furious movie, the project was initially hinted at back in 2018.
Despite the western world’s reliance on foreign box office from the region, China’s relationship with the US was somewhat strained when filming got underway because of trade-related drama.
The filming of Hidden Strike came to a close at the end of 2018, but nobody really spoke much about it—not Cena, Jackie Chan, or anyone else—other for Cena, who praised his time spent in China and his collaboration with Chan.
The COVID-19 outbreak made matters worse for Hidden Strike, and then things got much worse when Cena mentioned Taiwan during his promotional tour for F9—a move that the Chinese media strongly condemns.
But now that Hidden Strike‘s first trailer and poster have arrived after all this time, previewing the explosive antics of Jackie Chan and John Cena, we are that much closer to watching the action film that has taken six years to make.
Release date
Hidden Strike does not yet have a release date but is coming soon.
