5 Common Habits of Highly Successful People

The term ‘success’ is relative, as what it could mean to a young man in Silicon Valley could differ from how an individual in Africa perceives the concept.

Although, no matter how relative the complexity of the term, there is a largely accepted definition of what success is.

What is success?

According to Wikipedia, success is the state or condition of meeting a defined range of expectations. It may be viewed as the opposite of failure. The criteria for success depend on context and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system.

Simply put, the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

In this article, I will be sharing 5 habits of highly successful individuals.

Genuine successful individuals, whether they are wealthy or have just discovered their life purpose and get to enjoy living it every day, are there for a reason: habits.

Aside from the element of chance, much of what makes certain individuals successful requires the development of certain habits.

Here are some habits highly successful individuals have in common:

Rising Early

One common habit amongst highly successful individuals is that they are early risers. These individuals get out of bed at least three hours before their workday actually starts. Many of them use their free time to tackle personal projects, plan their day, or make time for exercise.

The more time one can spend on being successful, the more probable it is that success will occur. Successful individuals are accustomed to getting up early, and this behaviour is common among those who achieve success.

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

— Benjamin Franklin

Enough Sleep

It is funny how this point seems to contradict the former. Well, Albert Einstein reportedly preferred to get at least ten hours of sleep a night as it helped with boosting memory function and creative thinking.

An overwhelming 89 percent of self-made millionaires sleep seven or eight hours each night or more, according to a study made by Tom Corley, an accountant and financial planner, who surveyed 233 wealthy individuals, mostly self-made millionaires.

It’s worth noting that successful individuals read. While they read for leisure, the majority of them read to gather information or insight.

Warren Buffett, a self-made billionaire and famed investor, claims that reading is the most important habit he’s established.

Why not devote 30 minutes or more each day to study.

Multiple incomes

Highly successful individuals do not rely on one singular source of income. They develop multiple streams. Successful individuals understand that the world does not pay you for your knowledge; it rewards you for your actions.

That is the reason they don’t just read, they take action; set goals and develop into streams of income.

So how many sources of income do they have?

Believe in Self

To be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you must first genuinely believe that you are capable of doing it. It is a plus to believe in oneself.
